BHP. Health and safety at work.

The initial OHS training consists in general instruction, during which the employee becomes familiar with the general principles of work protection and safety, labor law issues and hazards present at the workplace.

In the second stage of the initial training, on-the-job training is conducted to familiarize the employee with his or her workplace, the operation and manual of the equipment that the employee will use and with the possible hazards present at this workplace.

The safety briefing must be carried out before the employee starts work, no later than the employee's first working day.

An employee may not be allowed to work for which he or she does not have the necessary qualifications or skills, as well as sufficient knowledge of the provisions and principles of occupational health and safety.
Initial training should consist of general and academic work. Also during this training, the employee learns the principles of first aid. Training time cannot be shorter than 90 minutes.

The costs of training are covered by the employer.

The frequency with which health and safety training should be repeated depends on the nature of the work performed by employees:

  • Annually - employees performing particularly dangerous work, involving a high risk of accidents and life-threatening;
  • Once every 6 years - in the least dangerous job (office job).
